Nanosonics wins Premier’s New South Wales Export Award 2018 for second year in a row

We’re delighted and proud to announce Nanosonics has won a NSW Premier’s Export Award for the second year running. This year we are the winners in the Health and Biotechnology category, which recognises outstanding success of products, technology, equipment or services in this field. The announcement was made last night at a gala dinner held at the Star in Pyrmont, Sydney.

The Australian Export Awards is a national program run by the Export Council of Australia that celebrates business excellence in international trade and recognises contributions to the NSW economy. Businesses are measured against their peers based on the strength of their international growth, marketing and financial strategies.

Nanosonics has been recognised at the awards previously. Last year we were recognised for our trophon device’s environmental excellence when we won the Environmental Solutions Award and in 2012 we won the NSW Emerging Exporter Award. When we won that award in 2012, exports had increased from $2 million to around $12 million. Today sales are over $60 million and, after Cochlear and ResMed, we are now one of Australia’s largest medical technology companies by market capitalisation.

Nanosonics will now represent New South Wales at the Australian Export Awards National Ceremony on 27 November 2018 in Canberra.

Nanosonics wins at Premier’s New South Wales Export Awards 2017

Nanosonics is extremely proud to have been announced as the winner of the Environmental Solutions Award at The Premier’s NSW Export Awards gala dinner on Wednesday night in Sydney.

The Premier’s NSW Export Awards is an annual program which aims to recognise excellence in the export of goods and services by NSW business.

The Environmental Solutions category celebrates Australian businesses who have shown outstanding international success in environmental solutions, clean energy innovation, materials and energy efficiency, waste and water management, green buildings and R & D collaboration. We were up against a diverse range of nominees from a broad spectrum of industry and were absolutely delighted to take the trophy.

This recognition shows that Nanosonics truly is at the forefront of innovation, driving change on a global scale. Our commitment to long term sustainability is a core part of our company mission. We improve the safety of patients, clinics and their staff by transforming the way infection prevention practices are understood, whilst also protecting the environment.

Latest guidelines

Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine / Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control Joint Guidance.
Released in 2017, the guidelines place an emphasis on applying high level disinfection (HLD) not only to intracavity probes but also to all surface probes used in semi-critical procedures. The guideline states that “If the transducer comes in direct contact with non-intact skin, blood or mucous membranes transducers should be cleaned [and undergo] HLD”. – Find out more

World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology Guideline.
Released in 2017, the guideline relates to the cleaning of transvaginal ultrasound transducers between patients by defining semi critical devices as those that pose a higher risk because of contact with non-intact skin or mucous membranes. The guideline recommends high level disinfection (HLD) for all semi critical probes. In addition, the guideline states that trophon® EPR as a HLD system is very efficient, rapid (approximately seven minutes), environmentally friendly and quality-ensured and disinfects the transducer handle.
